Grey's Anatomy Season 5 - A

This season was really luckluster at the beginning. It had boring storylines, bad characters and no real charm. That has quickly turned around in the last few episodes, however. First of all, thank God that Denny story is over. Izzy is sick, yeah, yeah, we all saw that coming, especially with the announcement of Katherine Heigel's departure for the sixth season. T.R. Knight is also leaving but meh, I don't think anybody will notice due to his extreme lack of screentime this season. Seriously, I think George has been on for about all of 5 minutes during the last 3 episodes. Does anyone else hate the direction that Bailey's character has taken? She used to be a favourite of mine with that strong, smart personality that fitted so well for the show's mentor character. Now she doesn't do anything except be emotional a lot and cry every 12 seconds. Also, Derek is soooo lame. Like, I used to hate him because he was just so bleh but now I can't even hate him because he doesn't do anything good or bad anymore. This season has a much more ensemble cast with the characters all sharing pretty much equal amounts of screentime (except for George), hell if anybody has more than the others it's Izzy rather than Meredith. This has done wonders for Meredith's character. Although she used to be fucking annoying and pretty much one of the worst characters in the show, I like her a LOT more now. She isn't in it nearly as much which means she doesn't get nearly as irritating. Plus, she acts a lot more grown-up now and I really respect the way she is acting lately. Also, the relationship between Meredith and Cristina is hands-down THE best friendship that has ever been portrayed on a T.V. show. No question. Is there some kind of award for that sorta thing? Because if there is, Meretina FTW. Speaking of Cristina, her relationship with Owen Hunt (yes, I had to look that up because I'm pretty sure it's been said all of once the whole season) is growing on me. I really hated it originally because it just seemed so forced and whatever. Another favourite of mine, Alex, has also lost a lot of his charm this season which is unfortunate. That might be because he lost a lot of screentime because of the whole Denny thing but I dunno. Hopefully he picks up again because I'm getting sick of all my faves either leaving (Addi) or becoming shit (George, Bailey and now Alex). The Chief (I don't even remember his name despite being in it since the beginning :() is as boring and forgettable as ever. Seriously, why is he even in this show? Mark and Lexie win. That's all that needs to be said. Callie is pretty cool although I'm not impressed with the lesbian thing. That leads me on to the first of the new ladies, Sadie. She seems alright. I'm a bit disappointed with her and Meredith though. They played it up to be a big thing that was gonna stir things up a lot but I don't remember a single time that they've spoken since her introductory episode. Lastly, Arizona Robbins (yes, I had to look her name up too. Come one Grey's, state your new characters' names more frequently, dammit!). She hasn't been in it very much but I've only got good thoughts for the "stranger with the ponytail". That could change however. So anyway, congratulations to the producers for turning this shitastic season around in such a short amount of time. It's actually worth watching again. Even if it was stupid that they didn't kill the serial killer and the boy STILL got his organs. Ugh.
